Nowruz is the most important holiday in Iran, on the turn of Esfand and Farvardin.
This is Hajji Firuz, in some respects symbol of Nowruz period. He symbolises rebirth of the Sumerian god of sacrifice.
Preparations to Nowruz start long before 21th March. People clean up their houses and do shopping.
Iranians visit their family and friends.
